About Neighbors In Need

About Us

In Montana, Neighbors Help Neighbors

The Neighbors In Need Ministry began in 1984 when requests for assistance coming into the Help-Net First Call For Help Information and Referral line were not able to be met.

The Help Net Board of Directors turned to the Kalispell Ministerial Association (KMA) for assistance. The KMA called together community leaders, clergy and interested volunteers and from that initial meeting about the Neighbors In Need program was created.

Neighbors In Need is supported by the churches of the Flathead Valley, faith based organizations, individual contributors, business sponsors and special events coordinated by member churches. The focus of Neighbors In Need (NIN) is to meet the needs of those individuals in our valley who are falling through the cracks of other social service programs by providing a single point of access that assists in ensuring the services provided to individuals are not duplicated.

Neighbors In Need volunteers support fund raising events hosted by community organizations. Neighbors In Need does not accept any government or federal assistance and is funded entirely through local gifts from the community. 100% of each contribution stays in the Flathead Valley. More than 99% of the people served are our local neighbors and friends.

**Neighbors In Need is a critical ministry partner to the Flathead Warming Center.  As both ministries are often a last resort for many in our community, we partner together to assist our neighbors when there are no other resource opportunities.  Through a strong partnership we are able to be good stewards, often vetting individual needs to better ensure there is continued support in place for individuals and families after funds are provided.  Both organizations seek to care for “the least of these” in our community.  Together we work to “be the hands and feet” of Christ and we are able to do so because of the support from our local churches.
